Hello and welcome! I'm so very glad you stopped by today because I want to share my first ever card for Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger Challenge! The challenge is to create a card inspired by the inspirational picture. This week's challenge is entitled Sweet Season, and here is this week's photo:
I was very intimidated when I first saw this photo because it has a TON of white in it! But being a CAS girl I decided to take the challenge on head first and embrace the whtie space! So without further ado (drumroll, please) this is my card:
I started the card with a white background that mimics the wainscoting in the photo. I didn't have a wainscoting embossing folder, so I had to get creative! I turned to my handy scoring board (I have the Martha Stewart one and I love it. It works so well!) and scored lines into my background.
The next element I noticed in the photo was the doily and the ruffles in the cake. So I cut a white rectangle to mimic the shape of the cake, and I scallop-punched the bottom edge of the rectangle to mimic the ruffles and doily. To add a little more interest I added a second layer of scallop punch and used a paintbrush handle to curl all the scallop edges for some added dimension.
I added a little red and white gingham ribbon that I up-cycled from some holiday gift basket I received last Christmas. I've been saving it for seven months, but I had faith that I could find a use for it, and today was my lucky day
I stamped the sentiment in New Leaf, Harvest Gold, and Blueberry Sky inks from Papertrey Ink to break up ALL the white. And you guessed it, the sentiment is also from Papertrey Ink! It's the Hello Sunshine stamp set.
I finished the card off by adding the banner at the top of the card. I hand-stamped and fussy-cut the banner using the same inks as the sentiment and Maya Road's Love Banner stamp set. This is one of my absolute favorite stamp sets. I have used it on so many different occasions and in so many different ways (stay tuned for a little Christmas card using this set in a whole different way). It's just such a wonderful little set, and I highly recommend it. A little red and white bakers twine holds the banner together, and two little bows finish it off nicely.
Add some glue and poof out comes a cute little happy day card.
For the 100 in 100'ers this is card 79. Only 21 more to go!!!
Well, that's it from me. Have a wonderful day and happy crafting!
Edited to include: Thank you Moxie Fab World for choosing my card as a Target Trigger for this challenge! I am so very excited! I would love to proudly display my Target Trigger Badge, but unfortunately, I can't on this free version of Typepad. :( Nonetheless, thanks so very much for the recognition!
